GB/T 4122.1-2008 Packaging terms - Part 1: Basic
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 4122 specifies general terms of packaging and basic terms and definitions of machinery, protection, materials and containers, inspection and examination, printing, packaging and environment, etc.
This part is applicable to packaging and packaging-related fields.
2 General terms
2.1
package, packaging
generic term of containers, materials, auxiliaries, etc. adopted according to certain technical methods for protecting products, facilitating storage and transport and promoting sales during the circulation process. It also refers to the operation activities of applying certain methods in the process of using containers, materials and auxiliaries to achieve the above purposes

whole product formed after packaging of products

transport package
package for transport and storage as the main purpose, which has the functions of ensuring the safety of products, facilitating storage, transport, loading and unloading, and accelerating handover and inspection
2.4
industrial packaging
packaging for raw materials, components and partially manufactured or finished goods, for distribution from manufacturer to manufacturer or other intermediaries
2.5
consumer package
package which is provided mainly for the purpose of marketing and is delivered to the consumers together with the contents, with the functions of protecting, beautifying and publicizing products and promoting sales
2.6
commercial package
packaging which, as far as quantity of content, type, quality or design of the package are concerned, conforms to the requirements of the respective level of trading
2.7
rigid package
package whose shape remains essentially unchanged after the contents are added or removed. The container is generally made of metal, wood materials, glass, ceramics, cardboard, hard plastics and other materials

flexible package
package whose shape is likely to change after the contents are added or removed. The container is usually made of paper, fiber products, plastic films or consolidated packaging materials
