1 Scope
This standard specifies test methods for determination of the minimum oxygen concentration (limiting oxygen index) required for the specimen to exactly maintain burning where the specimen is placed at vertical test condition and in oxygen-nitrogen mixture gas flow.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the burning behavior of various single-component or multi-component textiles such as woven fabric, knitted fabric, non-woven fabric, coated fabric, laminated fabric, compound fabric and carpets (including flame retardant treated and untreated ones).
This standard is only used for determination of burning behavior of textures under the laboratory conditions to control product quality, or only used as one of fire factors for analysis on certain special-purpose material, but not as the evaluation basis of fire hazards under actual service conditions.
