GB/T 903-2019 Colourless optical glass English
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, series, types, nomenclature and mark, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and labeling, packaging, transportation and storage of colorless optical glass (hereinafter referred to as optical glass).
This standard is applicable to optical glass blanks in the form of strips (bars), blocks and other forms with minimum side length ranging from 8 mm to 150 mm.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
environment friendly colourless optical glass
colourless optical glass in which the total content of environmentally hazardous impurities originating from chemical raw material impurities, melting furnace materials, manufacturing processes or other sources is limited to: lead (Pb) ≤ 100 mg/kg, arsenic (As) ≤ 100 mg/kg, cadmium (Cd) ≤ 5 mg/kg, mercury (Hg) ≤ 100 mg/kg, and hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺) ≤ 100 mg/kg
3.2
colour cord
λ80/λ5
ratio of the wavelength λ80 corresponding to a spectral transmittance of 80% to the wavelength λ5 corresponding to a spectral transmittance of 5%, measured on an optical glass with a thickness of 10 mm ± 0.1 mm. When ne≥1.85, λ80 is replaced by the wavelength λ70 corresponding to a spectral transmittance of 70%.
Example: If the wavelength corresponding to 80% spectral transmittance is 367 nm and the wavelength corresponding to 5% spectral transmittance is 323 nm, the value of λ80/λ5 is 367/323.
3.3
inclusions
foreign impurities or foreign matters existing in optical glass.
Note: Examples include bubbles, crystallites, knots, stones and platinum particles.
