1 Application Scope
This standard specifies the general requirements for calcium carbide industry cleaner production. In this standard, cleaner production index is divided into 6 classes, namely, production process and equipment requirements, resource energy utilization indexes, production indexes, pollutant producing indexes (before terminal treatment), waste recycling indexes and environment management requirements.
This standard is applicable to the cleaner production examination, cleaner production potential and opportunity judgment, cleaner production performance evaluation, cleaner production performance bulletin system, as well as environmental management system such as environmental impact assessment and pollutant discharging license in the calcium carbide manufacturing enterprises.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For undated references, the effective editions are applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and Definition
The following terms and definition are applicable to this standard.
3.1 Cleaner production
Cleaner production refers to adopt such measures as adopting improved design, using clean energy and raw materials, adopting advanced production process technology and equipments, improving management and comprehensive utilization, to improve resource utilization efficiency, reduce or avoid pollutant production and emission in the process of production, service and usage of products, so as to alleviate or eliminate harm to human health and environment.
3.2 Pollutant producing index (before terminal treatment)
Pollutant producing index is the pollution producing coefficient, referring to the amount (before terminal treatment) of pollutant produced in the process of unit product production (or machining). This standard mainly focuses on waste gas producing amount, referring to the waste gas amount and pollutant category, single delivery capacity or concentration in the inlet of waste gas treatment devices.
