1.0.1 This standard is formulated with a view to unify the standard and test method for safety performance evaluation of highway barriers.
1.0.2 This standard is applicable to the safety performance evaluation of standard sections of highway barriers, transition sections of highway barriers, highway barriers of median opening, terminals of barriers and crash cushions.
1.0.3 The full-scale impact test with real vehicle shall be adopted for the safety performance evaluation of highway barriers.
1.0.4 Safety performance evaluation of highway barriers shall not only meet those specified in this standard, but also meet the requirements of relevant current national and professional standards.
2 Terms
2.0.1
highway barriers
banded energy-absorbing structure loacted at the outside of the highway lane or median strip, which can absorb the impact energy by the autologous deformation or climbing of the vehicle and reduce theinjury severity of occupants during vehicle collision
2.0.2
standard sections of highway barriers
sections of highway barriers with constant section structure form and continuous arranged within a certain length range
2.0.3
transition sections of highway barriers
sections of highway barriers arranged between two highway barriers with different structure type or protection level, which are connected smoothly and have a smooth transition of structural rigidity
2.0.4
highway barriers of median opening
sections of highway barriers located at median opening and with a function of opening
2.0.5
terminals of highway barriers
energy-absorbing structure located at beginning end or final end of standard sections of highway barriers
2.0.6
crash cushions
energy-absorbing structure located at the road traffic diversion or the front of obstacle, which can absorb the impact energy by the autologous deformation and reduce theinjury severity of occupants during vehicle collision
2.0.7
redirective crash cushions
crash cushions with side impact redirective performance
2.0.8
non-redirective crash cushions
crash cushions without side impact redirective performance
2.0.9
safety performance of highway barriers
highway barriers has functions of stopping, buffering and redirection for impacting vehicles
2.0.10
containment performance
ability of highway barriers to prevent collision, crossing and straddling of vehicles.
2.0.11
buffering performance
ability of highway barriers to reduce impact intensity on collision vehicle and occupants in the vehicle
2.0.12
redirective performance
ability of highway barriers to enable impacting vehicle smoothly turn to the traveling direction and recover running state.
