This Standard is developed with reference to American standard ASME SB-247 (2010 edition). Five designations of aluminum and aluminum alloy forgings are included in this Standard in consideration of the production and application in China.
This standard was proposed by and is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Boilers and Pressure Vessels of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 262).
The National Technical Committee on Boilers and Pressure Vessels of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 262) is responsible for the interpretation of the Standard.
Aluminium and aluminium alloy forgings for pressure vessels
1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of aluminium and aluminium alloy forgings (including hand forgings and die forgings).
This standard is applicable to aluminium and aluminium alloy forgings with a design pressure not greater than 10.0Mpa used for pressure vessels.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 ring forging
axisymmetric hollow forging with an axial length (L) less than or equal to its outer diameter (D), as shown in Figure 1a), where the smaller of L and t is measured according to the nominal thickness.
3.2 disk forging
axisymmetric solid forging with an axial length (L) less than or equal to its outer diameter (D), as shown in Figure 1b), where L is measured according to the nominal thickness.
3.3 neck flange forging
axisymmetric hollow forging with two outer diameters in the axial direction, as shown in Figure 1c), where the larger of t1 and t2 is measured according to the nominal thickness.
3.4 bar forging
solid forging with a circular cross section and an axial length (L) greater than its outer diameter (D), as shown in Figure 1d), where D is measured according to the nominal thickness.
forging with a rectangular cross section and an axial length (L) greater than its lengths a and b, as shown in Figure 1e), the smaller of a and b is measured according to the nominal thickness.
