QJ 1118-1987 Code for design of solid rocket motor test stand
This standard specifies the design assignment contents, design procedures and design criteria of the solid rocket motor test stand.
This standard only puts forward the design guidelines and necessary data indexes of the overall and main parts of test stands, but doesn’t specify the specific construction and design calculation.
1 Design assignment
A design assignment must be provided for the design. It mainly includes the following contents:
a. source and purpose of tasks;
b. design drawings of motor;
c. motor-related parameters: total mass, centroid position, average thrust, maximum trust, lateral force, motor case elongation, radial symmetry of motor, etc.;
d. installation and operation place and installation/connecting size of test stand;
e. uncertainty of test stand or in thrust measurement;
f. number of thrust measurement paths, number of component forces or rotational speed;
g. other requirements, e.g., installation alignment, hoisting, generality, thermal protection, completion time, etc.
2 Design procedures and technical documents
2.1 Technical preparation stage
Conducting investigations and collecting relevant technical data and practical experience at home and abroad; conducting in-depth study of the design task requirements and developing a feasible scheme.
2.2 Scheme demonstration phase
On the basis of technical preparation, the designer shall put forward several scheme sketches, analyze their advantages and disadvantages, estimate their performance, organize relevant personnel to conduct a discussion, determine the best scheme, and prepare the Scheme Demonstration Report.
2.3 Design phase
Specific structural design and theoretical calculation shall be carried out and all drawing designs shall be completed in accordance with the determined scheme. In addition, Design Specification shall be prepared.
2.4 Manufacturing stage
In coordination with the process design of the manufacturing plant, necessary modifications shall be made to materials, structure and technical requirements, and any problems arising from the manufacturing shall be handled on the basis of ensuring performance.
2.5 Installation and debugging stage
2.5.1 Instructions for Installation and Debugging shall be prepared.
2.5.2 The test stand shall be installed and any non-conforming parts shall be repaired.
2.5.3 Debugging shall be carried out until the design requirements are met.
2.6 Static performance test stage
2.6.1 Performance Test Outline of Test Stand shall be prepared.
