Specification for construction and acceptance of steel storage tank subgrade & foundation in petrochemical industry
1 Scope
This specification specifies the technical and quality criteria as well as project acceptance and technical documents for completion for the construction of steel storage tank subgrade & foundation and foundation settlement observation.
This specification is applicable to the construction and acceptance of vertical cylindrical steel storage tank subgrade & foundation in petrochemical industry and coal-chemical industry and the construction and acceptance of the steel gas tank subgrade & foundation, but not applicable to the construction and acceptance of the prestressed concrete steel storage tank subgrade & foundation.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this specification, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
ground improvement
engineering measure taken to increase the bearing capacity of subgrade or improve its deformation or permeability
3.2
composite foundation
foundation of which part soil is reinforced or replaced to form a reinforced body that together with the surrounding foundation soil bears the load
3.3
cushion
hard and dense foundation soil formed by digging out the shallow soft soil layer or uneven soil layer on the surface, backfilling the specified materials, and then compacting or tamping
3.4
slope protected foundation
foundation which bears load jointly by the concrete slope protection or crushed stone slope protection and the packing layer, sand layer and asphaltic sands insulating layer inside the slope protection
3.5
ringwall foundation
foundation which bears load jointly by the reinforced concrete ringwall and the packing layer, sand layer and asphaltic sands insulating layer inside the ringwall
3.6
outside ringwall foundation
foundation which bears load jointly by the reinforced concrete ringwall and the packing layer, sand layer and asphaltic sands insulating layer inside the ringwall
3.7
pile foundation
foundation which bears load jointly by the pile and the reinforced concrete pile cap connected to the pile top as well as the packing layer, sand layer and asphaltic sands insulating layer of the pile cap
