1 Scope
This standard specifies the order information, classification and designation, dimension, shape and reference weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of carbon steel wire strands for optical fiber cable tension members.
This standard is applicable to galvanized and phosphatized carbon steel wire strands (hereinafter referred to as steel wire strands) for purposes such as reinforced cores for optical cables and self-supporting optical fiber cable.

3 Classification and designation
3.1 Steel strand is classified into A-type and B-type steel wire strands according to the surface state.
A-type steel wire strand: common zinc coating and phosphating steel wire strand;
B-type steel wire strand: steel wire strand with thick zinc coating.
3.2 The structure of the steel wire strand is 1×7, as shown in Table 1.
