本标准规定了金属材料顶锻试验方法的原理、符号、试样、试验设备、试验程序、试验结果评定和试验报告。
本标准适用于下列横截面尺寸(直径、边长或内切圆直径)范围的金属材料:对于冷顶锻试验为5mm～30mm，对于热顶锻试验为5mm～200mm。对于超出本标准适用范围的金属材料，应符合相关产品标准或协议的规定。
