1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test method, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of the toothbrushes.
This standard is applicable to manual adult flocking toothbrushes.
This standard is not applicable to special and functional toothbrushes (like full rubber-injection toothbrushes) and electric toothbrushes.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Filament
Single strand within the brush head.
3.2 Brush head
Working end of a toothbrush to which the filaments are attached.
3.3 Tuft stiffness category
The stiffness category based on tuft deflection force or nominal filament diameter, classifying soft, medium and hard.
3.4 Tuft
A group of filaments gathered together.
3.5 Tuft deflection force (F)
The resistance of tuft to deflection.
