1 Application Scope
This standard specifies the overall requirements on near surface disposal of low and intermediate level radioactive solid wastes and specifies the general requirements for the site selection, design, operation, closing, environmental monitoring and protection, safety evaluation, quality guarantee of the near surface disposal site of wastes.
This standard is applicable to the near surface disposal of the low and intermediate level radioactive solid wastes with radioactive nuclides of halflife at less than or equal to 30 a (including nuclide Cs-137) and the solid waste with long life activity nuclide whose radioactivity concentration below the limit specified in this standard and whose halflife is greater than 30 a (hereinafter referred to as wastes). This standard is not applicable to the disposal of uranothorite wastes and accompanied radioactive mine wastes.
