This standard is revised by reference to the quality requirements for synthetic materials track surfaces of athletic field in Standard Manual for Facilities of Athletic Field of International Association of Athletics Federations and combining the demand of environmental protection and product development.
This standard is developed in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 14833-1993 Synthetic-rubber Sports Track.
The following main changes have been made with respect to GB/T 14833-1993 (the previous edition):
——"Foreword" is added;
——Product classification is added;
——Appearance and dimension are cancelled (4.1 of Edition 1993);
——The index requirements for hardness, rebound resilience and recovery rate from compression of the product are cancelled (4.2 of Edition 1993);
——The index for tensile property of the product is readjusted (see 4.1.4; 4.2 of Edition 1993);
——The requirements and determination method for product durability are added (see 4.3 and 5.8);
——The index requirements and determination methods for impact absorption, vertical deformation and skid resistance value of the product are added (see 4.1.4 and Annexes A, B and C);
——The requirements and determination method for environmental protective performance are added (see 4.2.2, 5.7, 5.8 and Annex E).
This standard was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of SAC/TC 35/SC 7 National Technical Committee on Rubber & Products of Standardization Administration of China, Subcommittee on Rubber Goods.
The previous edition of the standard replaced by this standard is as follows:

Ground classification Application scope Basic requirements
Class I ground Competitions in Article 1 (a)~(h), Track and Field Competition Rules (2009) as well as Classes 1~3 domestic competitions The requirements in Tables 2 and 3 and those for surface material endurance quality shall be met
Class II ground Classes 4~6 domestic competitions in Article 1, Track and Field Competition Rules (2009) The requirements in Tables 2 and 3 shall be met, and the surface material endurance quality index shall be determined through negotiation between the Supplier and the Demander
Class III ground Applicable to teaching and public fitness The requirements in Tables 2 and 3 shall be met
3.2 Synthetic materials track surfaces are classified into the following two types according to the structure type.
3.2.1 Water seepage type
A kind of synthetic materials track surfaces with gap structure made of resin bonding rubber particles or through other methods, with the main feature that water on the surface of this type flows on the surface as well as through the surface.
3.2.2 Non-water seepage type
A kind of synthetic materials track surface with vertical section compact or having a small amount of air holes and with specific structure form.
4 Requirements
4.1 Technical performance of synthetic materials track surface
4.1.1 Thickness
Surface thickness shall satisfy the requirements of impact absorption and vertical deformation; the area of site with thickness less than the thickness value given in detection certificate of qualification by 10% shall not exceed 10% of the total area; surface thickness shall be measured by calibrated three-ball thickness gauge.
4.1.2 Effectiveness
Effectiveness of synthetic material surface refers to that athletes feel comfortable and safe when participating in track and field competition or training on the surface, the surface will not strongly react on human body or cause too much energy loss due to impact force generated by athlete in movement to the surface, and the surface can relieve the damage to human body when athlete falls down.
