Test method for accelerated weathering of building materials
1 Scope
This standard specifies the test device, test conditions, test procedures, expression of test results and the test report for accelerated weathering of building materials with argon lamp as light source.
This standard is applicable to the determination of accelerated weathering of building materials.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.
GB/T 11942 Colorimetric methods for color building materials
GB/T 16422.1-1996 Plastics—Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources—Part 1: General guidance
3 Principle
3.1 The xenon arc lamp equipped with a suitable filter is maintained so that the radiation generated is similar to the spectral energy distribution in the ultraviolet and visible regions of ground daylight.
3.2 The test specimen is exposed to a light source under specified environmental conditions.
3.3 The test procedures include the determination of the irradiance and the irradiation amount on the surface of the test specimen.
3.4 A similar material with known properties is recommended to be used as a reference and exposed simultaneously with the tested material.
3.5 Test results of different types of devices should not be compared unless the reproducibility of the tested material between these devices is determined.
4 Test device
4.1 Light source
4.1.1 The spectral range of quartz-jacked xenon arc lamps includes ultraviolet, visible light and infrared radiation at wavelengths greater than 270nm.
