Coke for Metallurgy - Determination of Mechanical Strength
1 Scope
This standard specifies the principle, instruments and apparatus, sampling and preparation, test procedures, result calculation and precision for determination of mechanical strength of coke with size greater than 60mm and 25mm.
This standard is applicable to the determination for mechanical strength of coke with size not less than 25mm. Coke with size less than 25mm may also be used as reference.
2 Normative References
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest editions apply.

3 Principle
Coke is constantly lifted by lifting plate in the rotating drum and drops on steel plate. During this process, coke is subjected to impact and friction under mechanical force, causing cracking along the crack and abrasion on surface of coke blocks, which is used to determine the crushing strength and abrasive resistance of coke.
