Beach umbrella
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage for beach umbrella.
This standard is applicable to hand-open beach umbrellas made of different fabrics and umbrella stands.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1

umbrella that may be fixed and used in different places

4 Product classification
4.1 By rib structure, umbrellas may be classified into straight umbrellas and telescopic umbrellas.
4.2 By rod structure, umbrellas may be classified into directional umbrellas and direction changeable umbrellas.
5 Requirements
5.1 General
The safety performance of the product shall meet the requirements of GB 31892.
5.2 Appearance
5.2.1 The appearance shall be clean, free from stains and rust.
5.2.2 The electroplated parts and spraying coating parts shall be free from peeling, burrs, wrinkle, rust, bubble and exposed base.
5.2.3 Plastic parts shall be free from burrs, wrinkles and bubbles.
5.3 Sewing
The joints on umbrella cover shall not separate with or expose edges and shall be skipping stitch and broken stitch; the stitch length density shall be not less than 13 stitches in 5cm. For umbrella cover not larger than 1m, the pattern on it shall be free from dislocation exceeding 8mm. For umbrella cover larger than 1m, the pattern on it shall be free from dislocation exceeding 12mm.
5.4 Umbrella cover
Umbrella cover shall be free from hole, the total number of hand pick, thread out and broken picks on the same triangle of textile fabric shall not be larger than 2; and the total number of hand pick, thread out and broken picks on the same umbrella cover shall not be larger than 5.
5.5 Umbrella cover adhesion
Umbrella cover shall be free from adhesion, and the printing and the coating shall be free from falling off.
5.6 Specifications and dimensions
Specifications and dimensions shall be clearly stated on the product, and their representation and tolerance shall be in accordance with QB/T 4743.
5.7 Product integrity
After the test specified in 6.7, the product shall be integral and free from falling off.
5.8 Umbrella rod strength
After the test specified in 6.8, the umbrella rod shall be free from obvious deformation, bending and the damages affecting normal use.
5.9 Failure-free continuous opening/closing times
After being opened/closed 260 times, the umbrella shall be free from such phenomena as rivet falling off, clip displacement, wire string coil fracture, loosening, umbrella case defect and failure, spring malfunction, umbrella rib fracture, joint separation, joint hole off-thread and plating (coating) peeling. See Figure 1 for the schematic diagram of components of the umbrella.
5.10 Rain-proof performance
After the test specified in 6.10, the umbrella rod shall be free from flowing water, and the umbrella cover shall be free from drip and obvious vaporific water leakage. Those without rain-proof performance shall be indicated.
5.11 Color fastness
The color fastness of umbrella cover to water shall not be lower than Grade 3-4 specified in GB/T 250-2008 and GB/T 251-2008.
5.12 Umbrella rib
5.12.1 Umbrella rib elasticity for straight umbrella
After the test specified in 6.12.1, the chord height shall not be greater than 10mm.
5.12.2 Wind resistance strength of umbrella rib
After the test specified in 6.12.2, the rib may be turned over, but shall be free from any damage affecting normal use.

5.13 Corrosion resistance
5.13.1 After neutral salt spray test, 4h for umbrella rod and 2h for other parts according to the requirements of QB/T 3826, the corrosion resistance of metal electroplated parts shall not be lower than Grade 4 specified in QB/T 3832-1999.
5.13.2 After the test specified in 6.13.2, the painting and plastic spraying pieces shall be free from wrinkle, falling off and rust.
