1 Scope
This standard specifies the rated value, design and structure, tests, etc., of high-voltage direct current by-pass switches.
This standard is applicable to indoors/outdoors by-pass switches operating in HVDC transmission systems with voltage levels of ±800 kV and below.
This standard is also applicable to the operating mechanism and auxiliary equipment of by-pass switches.

mechanical power switchgear bridged between one or more converter bridge DC terminals to short-circuit the converter bridge and to transfer the current to the converter valve once such bridge is quitting running and put into operation respectively

1 Scope
