This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 3183-2003 Masonry Cement and has the following main changes with respect to it.
——Requirements for masonry cement components are deleted (5.1 in 2003 edition);
——32.5 strength grade is added (see Chapter 5; Chapter 6 in 2003 edition);
——Limit and determination of chlorine ion, water-soluble chromium (VI) and radioactivity for cement are added (see 6.1.2, 6.1.3, 6.2.6, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.7);
——Type inspection is added (see 8.2.2 and 8.3.2).
This standard was proposed by China Building Materials Federation.

Masonry Cement
1 Scope
This standard specifies requirements for masonry cement, including terms and definitions, composition and material, code and strength grade, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, end of manufacturing, delivery and acceptance as well as packaging, marking, transportation and storage, etc.
This standard is applicable to masonry cement required for masonry, plastering mortar and cushion course concrete.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
masonry cement
the hydraulic cementing materials with preferable water retention, made by milling Portland cement clinker with specified mixed material and a proper amount of gypsum
4 Composition and Material
4.1 Clinker
Clinker shall meet the requirements of GB/T 21372.
4.2 Gypsum
4.2.1 Natural gypsum
Natural gypsum shall meet the requirements of GB/T 5483.
4.2.2 By-product gypsum
By-product gypsum shall meet the requirements of GB/T 21371.
4.3 Cement mixed material
4.3.1 Active mixed material
Active mixed materials include granulated blast furnace slag specified in GB/T 203, fly ash specified in GB/T 1596, pozzolanic materials specified in GB/T 2847, granulated electric furnace phosphorous slag specified in GB/T 6645 and granulated blast furnace titanium slag specified in JC/T 418.
4.3.2 Inactive mixed materials
Inactive mixed materials include granulated blast furnace slag with activity inferior to that specified in GB/T 203, fly ash with activity inferior to that specified in GB/T 1596, pozzolanic materials with activity inferior to that specified in GB/T 2847, granulated electric furnace phosphorous slag with activity inferior to that specified in GB/T 6645 and granulated blast furnace titanium slag with activity inferior to that specified in JC/T 418 as well as limestone powder specified in GB/T 35164.
4.4 Kiln dust
Kiln dust shall meet the requirements of JC/T 742.
4.5 Cement grinding aids
While grinding cement flour, grinding aids that meet the requirements of GB/T 26748 are allowed to be added with adding amount not exceeding 0.5% of cement mass.
5 Code and Strength Grade
Masonry cement with code of M is classified into three strength grades, i.e. 12.5, 22.5 and 32.5.
6 Technical Requirements
6.1 Chemical component
6.1.1 Sulfur trioxide (SO3)
The content (mass fraction) of sulfur trioxide shall not exceed 3.5%.
6.1.2 Chlorine ion (Cl-)
The content (mass fraction) of chlorine ion shall not exceed 0.06%.
6.1.3 Water-soluble chromium (VI) in cement
The content of water-soluble chromium (VI) in cement shall not exceed 10.0mg/kg.
6.2 Physical property
6.2.1 Fineness
Residue on 80μm square hole sieve shall not exceed 10.0%.
6.2.2 Setting time
The initial setting time shall not be less than 60min and the final setting time shall not exceed 720min.
6.2.3 Soundness by boiling method
Boiling method shall be acceptable.
