Ferromanganese
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packing, storing, transportation, marking and certification for ferromanganese products.
This standard is applicable to ferromanganese as deoxidizer and alloy element additive for steelmaking and casting.

3 Product classification
3.1 According to smelting methods, the product can be divided into ferromanganese produced by electric furnace and those produced by blast furnace.
3.2 According to carbon content, the product can be divided into four categories:
——Extra low carbon type: with carbon content not more than 0.15%;
——Low carbon type: with carbon content more than 0.15% and less than 0.7%;
——Medium carbon type: with carbon content more than 0.7% and less than 2.0%;
——High carbon type: with carbon content more than 2.0% and less than 8.0%.
3.3 According to content of silicon and phosphorus, the product can be divided into two groups, i.e., I and II.
