1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, symbol, profile, tolerance, requirements, inspection, marking and packaging of gauges for general purpose screw threads.
This standard is applicable to the gauges for general purpose screw threads with a profile angle of 60°, a nominal diameter of 1 mm to 355 mm and a screw pitch of 0.2 mm to 8 mm.
The gauges for general purpose screw threads specified in this standard (hereinafter referred to as "thread gauge") is applicable to the inspection of general purpose metric screw threads specified in GB/T 192-2003, GB/T 193-2003, GB/T 196-2003 and GB/T 197-2003.

gauges for general purpose screw threads
a measuring instrument that has standard profiles for general purpose metric screw threads, and can reflect the boundary condition of the inspected internal and external thread. It can be classified into working gauges for general purpose screw threads and check gauges for general purpose screw threads based on the use performance
