Textile trim materials in the interior of automobiles – Test method for Schopper abrasion
1 Scope
This document describes a test method for determining the abrasion resistance of textile trim materials in the interior of automobiles by Schopper’s rotating friction method.
It is applicable to the abrasion resistance test of textile trim materials of car seats and door panel decoration using textile fiber as main raw materials.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
fuzzing
phenomenon forming fuzz due to protrusion of fiber on the fabric surface or the extension of fiber end caused by external friction during the use of the fabric
3.2
pilling
phenomenon forming fuzz balls because the fuzz on the fabric surface cannot fall off in a timely manner during use, and entangles with each other
3.3
whiten
whitening of surface color of the fabric when it is worn
4 Principle
Under the specified atmospheric conditions, the specified load is applied to the sample, and after the sample and the abrasive are rubbed by Schopper rotating friction method for a specified number of revolutions, phenomena such as fuzzing, pilling and whiten may occur on the sample, then, the mass loss, abrasive surface appearance and discoloration grade of the sample can be determined.
