1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination of thickness of textiles under specified pressure.
This standard applicable to various textiles and textile products.
2 Normative reference
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below.
GB 6529-86 Standard Atmospheres for Textiles Conditioning and Testing
GB 8170-87 Rules for Rounding off of Numerical Values
GB/T 19022.1-1994 Quality assurance requirements for measuring equipment — Part 1: Metrological confirmation system for measuring equipment (idt ISO 10012.1: 1992)
3 Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply.
3.1 thickness of a textile
the vertical distance between two reference plates that apply a specified pressure to the textile
3.2 bulky textiles
when the pressure of the textiles is increased from 0.1 kPa to 0.5 kPa, the textile with the thickness variation (compression ratio) ≥ 20%, e.g., artificial fur, plush, velvet, non-woven flakes, etc.
3.3 raised textiles
the textiles with a layer of dense flock (fur) on the surface, e.g., gigging, galling, cutting, flocking, sanding textiles, etc.
3.4 lofty textiles
The textiles with loose and soft structure, e.g., pile loops, loose structures, woollen knitwear, etc.
