1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for measuring the moisture regain in raw cotton using an electrical moisture meter.
This standard is applicable to fine-staple cotton and long-staple cotton with a moisture regain of 3%~13%.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
moisture weight
the weight of raw cotton when it contains moisture.
3.2
dry weight
the weight of raw cotton after removing moisture by certain means.
3.3
moisture regain
the moisture content of the raw cotton measured under the specified conditions, which is expressed as the percentage of the difference between the moisture content and the dry weight of the specimen to the dry weight.
