3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
grade
a comprehensive index representing the quality grade of cotton maturity, color and luster characteristics, processing quality, etc.
3.2
cotton modal grade
grade that accounts for 80% or more when inspected by batch with the rest of the grades only adjacent to it
3.3
gross weight
sum of the weight of cotton and its packaging materials
3.4
net weight
weight after deducting the weight of packaging materials from the gross weight
3.5
conditioned weight
weight converted from the actual impurity content and actual moisture regain of cotton to the standard impurity content and conditioned moisture regain
3.6
conditioned lint percentage of seed cotton
percentage of the conditioned weight of lint cotton extracted from seed cotton to the weight of corresponding seed cotton
3.7
foreign fiber
non-cotton fibers and non-natural color cotton fibers mixed into cotton
Note: The foreign fiber types include chemical fiber, hair, silk, hemp, plastic film, plastic rope, dyed thread (rope, cloth pieces), etc.
3.8
the content of foreign fiber in a baled cotton
ratio of the weight of foreign fibers picked out from the sample to the weight of the picked sample
Note: Expressed in g/t.
3.9
dangerous foreign matters
hard and soft matters mixed into cotton
Note: Dangerous matters include metals, bricks, stones, foreign fibers, etc.
4 Requirements for quality
