This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 9107-1999 Refined cotton. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect GB/T 9107-1999:
a) The scope is modified: the application scope is modified from alkaline cooking to cooking (see Clause 1 hereof; Clause 1 of Edition 1999);
b) The product form is added (see 4.1.2 hereof), specifications (see 4.2 hereof; 3.2.2 of Edition 1999) and model compositions are changed (see 4.4 hereof; 3.2 of Edition 1999);
c) The requirements of foreign fibers in flocculated refined cotton products (5.1), foreign matters in flocculated refined cotton products (5.2), dust count of rolled (sheeted) refined cotton products (5.3), bursting strength of refined cotton products (5.4), and the quantitative and thickness of rolled (sheeted) refined cotton products (5.5) are added;
d) The product models of refined cotton for cellulose acetate, cellulose ether, and nitrocellulose are added, and the technical performance indexes are modified (see 5.6, 5.7, and 5.8 hereof, and 4.2.1, 4.2.3, and 4.2.2 of Edition 1999);
e) The subclauses "General provisions" (see 6.1), "Environmental requirements for specimen preparation" (see 6.2.1), and "Specimen preparation in rolls (sheets)" (see 6.2.3) are added.
f) Determination methods, including limiting viscosity (see 6.3), acetone soluble matter (see 6.11), foreign fibers (see 6.12), impurities (see 6.13), dirt count (see 6.14), quantification, thickness (see 6.15), and rupture resistance (see 6.16) are add;
g) The “Inspection rules” is modified (see Clause 7 hereof; Clause 6 of Edition 1999);
h) The requirements of marking, packaging, transportation and storage are modified (see Clause 8 hereof and Clause 8 of 1999 edition) and the requirements of delivery are added (see 8.5).

1 Scope
This document specifies the product model, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks, packaging, transportation, storage, and delivery of refined cotton.
This document is applicable to refined cotton produced by cooking, bleaching, and other processes with cotton linter as raw materials.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

refined cotton; cotton linters pulp
cotton cellulose materials produced by cooking, bleaching, and other processes with cotton linter as raw material
3.2
foreign fiber
non-cotton fibers and non-natural cotton fibers mixed with refined cotton

4 Product models
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 The product main purposes are divided into three categories:
a) Those for cellulose acetate are denoted by the capital letter C;
b) Those for cellulose ether are denoted by the capital letter M;
c) Those for nitrocellulose are denoted by the capital letter X.
4.1.2 The product forms are divided into two categories:
a) Flocculated products are denoted by the capital letter X;
b) Rolled or flaked products are denoted by the capital letter J.
4.2 Specification
The specifications are divided by limiting viscosity, and the product specification codes are 5, 15, 30, 60, 100, 200, 400, 650, 1000, 2000, and 3000.
4.3 Grade
Products are divided into three grades, which are represented by Roman numerals as Grades I, II, and III.
4.4 Model composition
The product model is composed of purpose, specification, form, and grade. Its representation method is shown in Figure 1.
Example:
M100X-I means: 100# flocculent Grade I refined cotton for cellulose ether.

4 Product models
