1 Scope This standard specifies classification, technical requirements, test methods, test rules, packaging, mark, packaging, storage, transportation requirements and installation precautions of highway bridge expansion and contraction installation. This standard is applicable to expansion and contraction installation with 20mm-2000mm expansion and contraction amount used in highway bridge project. 2 Normative References The following provisions contained in the following standards are turned into the provisions of this national standard by being referred in this national standard. For date reference, the subsequent amendments to (excluding amending error in the text) or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. And parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. For undated references, its latest edition referred to applies. Terms and Definitions For the purposes of this national standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 Expansion and Contraction Joint Expansion and contraction joint is the clearance located in the bridge superstructure to meet the needs of expansion and contraction and deformation of material. 3.2 Composite Expansion and Contraction Installation To make the vehicle go through the bridge deck stably and to meet the deformation of bridge superstructure, composite expansion and contraction installation is the generic terms for all kinds of installations composed of such elements as rubber and steel products, which are located at bridge expansion and contraction joint. 3.3 Expansion and Contraction Quantity Expansion and contraction quality is the sum of expansion and contraction of expansion and contraction installation. And minus (-) stands for expansion, while plus (+) stands for contraction. 3.4 Expansion and Contraction Body Expansion and contraction body is the part which can be expanded and contracted in the expansion and contraction installation. 3.5 Transverse Stagger Transverse stagger is the horizontal stagger being vertical with the bridge midline or suberect with the bridge midline. 3.6 Vertical Stagger Vertical stagger is the stagger being vertical with the bridge deck or suberect with the bridge deck. 3.7 Longitudinal Stagger Longitudinal stagger is horizontal stagger of expansion and contraction installation along bridge midline or approaching bridge midline. 4 Product Classification and Code Name 4.1 Product Classification According to the structure of expansion and contraction body, expansion and contraction installations are classified into four classifications. 4.1.1 Modulus Expansion and Contraction Installation Expansion and contraction body is the expansion and contraction installation combined by centre sill steel and 80mn unit rubber seal strip. And it is applicable to the highway bridge project whose expansion and contraction quality is 160mm-2000mm. 4.1.2 Coxcomb Expansion and Contraction Installation Expansion and contraction body is the expansion and contraction installation combined by coxcomb. Generally it is applicable to the highway bridge project whose expansion and contraction is not larger than 300mm. 4.1.3 Rubber Expansion and Contraction Installation Rubber expansion and contraction installation is divided into two types: plate type rubber and combined type. a) If expansion and contraction body is the plate type rubber expansion and contraction installation combined by the vulcanized rubber and steel plate or angle iron, it is applicable to the highway bridge project whose expansion and contraction quality is less than 60mm. b) If expansion and contraction body is the combined type expansion and contraction installation combined by rubber plate and steel support plate, it is applicable to the highway bridge project whose expansion and contraction quality is not larger than 120mm. Rubber expansion and contraction installation should not be used for the bridge engineering of expressway and arterial road.
