This standard replaces JT/T 327-2004 Highway bridge expansion and contraction installation. The following main technical changes have been made with respect to JT/T 327-2004:
——The range of expansion and contraction quantity is adjusted (see Clause 1);
——The term and definition of expansion and contraction body have been deleted (see 3.4 of 2004 edition), and the term and definition of elastic bearing element have been added (see 3.4);
——The classification of expansion and contraction installations is revised and the rubber expansion and contraction installation is deleted (see 4.1.3 of 2004 edition); special-shaped steel single-seam expansion and contraction installations is changed into single-seam modular expansion and contraction installations (see 4.2 of this standard; 4.1.4 of 2004 edition); seamless expansion and contraction installation is added [see 4.1c)]; the types of modular expansion and contraction installations and pectinate plate expansion and contraction installations are refined (see 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4).
——The expression methods of product code are improved, and the structure schematic of the expansion and contraction installation is supplemented (see 4.5);
——The general requirements of expansion and contraction installations are supplemented and improved; the deformation performance requirements are improved (see 5.1.1); the water resistance requirements (see 5.1.2), bearing performance requirements (see 5.2.1) and durability requirements (see 5.2.2) are supplemented;
——The test methods of expansion and contraction installations are supplemented and improved, with the deformation performance test (see 7.1.5), water resistance test (see 7.1.6) and bearing performance test (see 7.1.7) supplemented, and welding quality inspection (see 7.2.4) and coating quality inspection (see 7.2.5) improved.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, general requirements, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of expansion and contraction installations for highway bridge.
This standard is applicable to the expansion and contraction installations used in highway bridge engineering with expansion and contraction quantity of 20 mm~3,000 mm.

4 Classification
4.1 Expansion and contraction installations for highway bridge (hereinafter referred to as “expansion and contraction installations”) are classified into the following by expansion and contraction installation:

b) pectinate plate expansion and contraction installation, coded as S;
c) seamless expansion and contraction installation, coded as W.
4.2 Modular expansion and contraction installations are classified into the following by the quantity of rubber sealing tape:
a) single-seam ones, coded as MA;
b) multi-seam ones, coded as MB.
4.3 Pectinate plate expansion and contraction installations are classified into the following by the stress conditions of pectinate plate:
a) cantilever ones, coded as SC;
b) simply-supported ones, coded as SS.
4.4 Simple-supported pectinate plate expansion and contraction installations are classified into the following by the relative position of toothed plate of the moveable pectinate plate and the expansion and contraction joint:
a) those with the toothed plate of the movable pectinate plate at one side of the expansion and contraction joint, coded as SSA;
b) those with the toothed plate of the movable pectinate plate crossing the expansion and contraction joint, coded as SSB.
