1 Scope
This standard specifies the methods of testing level of polybrominatde biphenyls and polybrominatde diphenyl ethers in automotive materials.
"X-ray fluorescence spectrometry" is applicable to screening and rapid judgment of bromine content in automotive materials by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.
"Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method" is applicable to determination of content of PBBs and PBDEs in automotive materials by gas chromatography - mass spectrometry.
2 Normative References
The following documents for the application of this document are essential. For dated reference, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendment) applies.
GB/T 8170 Rules of Rounding Off for Numerical Values & Expression and Judgment of Limiting Values

3 X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry
3.1 Principle
Put the prepared sample in sample chamber of x-ray fluorescence spectrometer and analyze the sample according to selected test mode. Then judge whether the content of bromine element in the sample is qualified according to the screening limits for respective sample and whether accurate determination is needed.
3.2 Reagents and materials
3.2.1 Boric acid (HBO3): analytically pure, heated at 105℃ for 1h and stored in a dryer.
3.2.2 Bromine-contained standard material.
3.2.3 Liquid nitrogen: industrial-grade.
