1 Scope
This Specification specifies the selection of the tanks for the tank farms in the petrochemical storage and transportation system, and the design principles and technical requirements for the normal-pressure, low-pressure and pressure tank farms.
This Specification is applicable to the design of the new overground steel tank farms used for storing the liquid materials (including raw material, finished product and auxiliary materials). The expansion and renovation projects can be implemented with reference to this Specification.
This Specification is inapplicable to the design of the low-temperature, normal-pressure tank farms for the liquefied hydrocarbon.

3 General provisions
3.1 The arrangement of the tank farm shall meet the following t principles:
a) The position of the tank farm shall be arranged in combination of the flow direction of the liquids;
b) The raw material tank farm should be approached to the corresponding processing units;
c) The product tank farm should be approached to the loading platform or loading pier;
d) The torography should be utilized to realize gravity transfer for the liquids;
e) The tanks for the liquids of the similar properties should be arranged together.
3.2 The storage temperature of the flammable liquid shall be determined according to the following principles:
a) Higher than the solidifying point (or crystallizing point) of the flammable liquid, but lower than the initial boiling point;
b) The mass of the flammable liquid shall be ensured so as to reduce loss;
c) The normal transportation of the flammable liquid shall be ensured;
d) The settlement and dewatering requirements of the flammable liquids shall be met;
e) If the flammable liquid has any additive, then its storage temperature shall meet the special requirements of the additive;
f) The relevant heat energy shall be utilized rationally;
g) The storage temperature of the stored flammable liquid that needs to be heated shall be lower than the spontaneous ignition temperature hereof;
h) As for some liquid chemicals that have special properties, the determined storage temperature shall be able to avoid the generation of autopolymer and oxide.
3.3 The storage temperatures of the flammable liquids may adopt the recommended values from Table 1.
