1 Scope
This standard specifies terms and definitions, pre-riveting technical requirements, technical requirements and riveting quality inspection of riveting process for railway vehicle.
This standard is applicable to the riveting process of railway vehicle in adoption of common rivets and lockbolt; in case of other types of rivets, it may also be referred to for reference.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
pull-riveting
a fastened connection mode to tightly couple the rivet and collar by pressing the collar into the circular locking groove of the rivet
3.2
lockbolt
the assembly of rivet and collars, which is obtained by pull-riveting
4 Pre-riveting Technical Requirements
4.1 Rivet
4.1.1 Common rivets shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 863.2, GB/T 865 and GB/T 867.
4.1.2 The rivet and collar of lockbolt shall be in accordance with those specified in relevant standards and product drawings. See Annex A for the types of rivets and collars.
4.1.3 The rivet material shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
a) The material of common steel rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in YB/T 4155;
b) The material of common aluminum rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 3195;
c) The material of common copper rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 21652;
d) As for lockbolt, the materials of rivet and collar shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 3077 and GB/T 699 respectively.
4.1.4 The rivet length specified in the product design drawing is one of the main bases for production, ordering and spare part preparation. However, during the riveting and assembly of common rivet, the rivet length shall be determined according to the result of riveting process test so as to ensure the forming dimension of the height and diameter of the rivet tail.
4.2 Riveted part
4.2.1 Rivet hole
4.2.1.1 The hole of common rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 152.1.
4.2.1.2 The hole of lockbolt shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
a) See Table 1 for the diameter of rivet hole for rivet of LMB type;
b) See Table 2 for the diameter of rivet hole for rivet of LMB, LMP and LMC types;
c) See Table 3 for the rivet hole diameter of reusable rivets of LMPL, LMLL, LMYL, LMPC, LMLC and LMYC types as well as bobtail of LMDY, LMDM, LMDP, LMDC and LMDH types.

4.2.1.3 The rivet hole shall not be made through gas cutting, arc cutting and the like.
4.2.1.4 The wall of the rivet hole shall be free from burrs, notches, cracks and metal filings.
4.2.1.5 The unnoted tolerance for the rivet hole diameter shall be in accordance with those specified in Grade m in GB/T 1804-2000.
4.2.1.6 The surface of rivet hole shall be MRR Ra50 in roughness.
4.2.1.7 During the riveting of riveted part of three layers or above, the roundness tolerance of rivet hole shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
a) The roundness tolerance of rivet hole for common rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 4;
b) The roundness tolerance of rivet hole for lockbolt shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 5.

3 Terms and Definitions

4 Pre-riveting Technical Requirements
4.1 Rivet

4.1.2 The rivet and collar of lockbolt shall be in accordance with those specified in relevant standards and product drawings. See Annex A for the types of rivets and collars.
4.1.3 The rivet material shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
a) The material of common steel rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in YB/T 4155;
b) The material of common aluminum rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 3195;
c) The material of common copper rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 21652;
d) As for lockbolt, the materials of rivet and collar shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 3077 and GB/T 699 respectively.
4.1.4 The rivet length specified in the product design drawing is one of the main bases for production, ordering and spare part preparation. However, during the riveting and assembly of common rivet, the rivet length shall be determined according to the result of riveting process test so as to ensure the forming dimension of the height and diameter of the rivet tail.
4.2 Riveted part
4.2.1 Rivet hole
4.2.1.1 The hole of common rivet shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 152.1.
4.2.1.2 The hole of lockbolt shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
a) See Table 1 for the diameter of rivet hole for rivet of LMB type;
b) See Table 2 for the diameter of rivet hole for rivet of LMB, LMP and LMC types;
c) See Table 3 for the rivet hole diameter of reusable rivets of LMPL, LMLL, LMYL, LMPC, LMLC and LMYC types as well as bobtail of LMDY, LMDM, LMDP, LMDC and LMDH types.
