WJX (RZ) 159-2005
Name: welded high strength structural steel
Designation: HG785 Delivery status: hot rolled
This Specification replaces WJX (RZ) 159-2003
1. Scope of application
This Specification is applicable to welded high strength structural steel with thickness of 5 ~ 16 mm.
2. Normative references
GB 222 Method of sampling steel for determination of chemical composition and permissible variations for product analysis
GB 223 Methods for chemical analysis of iron, steel and alloy
GB 228 Metallic materials - Tensile testing
GB 247 General rule of package, mark and certification for steel plates ( sheets) and strips
GB 3274 Hot-rolled plates and strips of carbon structural steels and high strength low alloy structural steels

Notes:
1) Sampling direction: transverse for tensile and cold bending samples, and longitudinal for impact samples;
2) Sampling position: 1/4 of the plate width. For steel plates with thickness ≥30mm, the center line of the sample is at 1/4 of the plate thickness, and there is no requirement for other plate thicknesses;
3) The impact energy and test temperature for Charpy (V-notch) impact test shall meet the requirements of the table above. The impact energy shall be calculated according to the arithmetic average of 3 specimens; it is acceptable that one of the specimen results is small, but shall not be less than 70% of the specified value;
4) There is no requirement for the impact energy of steel plates with thickness < 6mm. The impact specimen size of steel plate with thickness ≥ 6 ~ 7 mm is 5×10×55 (mm), that of steel plate with thickness ≥ 8 ~ 10 mm is 7.5×10×55 (mm), and that of steel plate with thickness ≥8~10mm is 10× 10× 55 (mm). For small size samples, the specified value of impact energy decreases proportionally.
