1.0.1 In order to make the strengthening of steel structures reliable in technology, economic and applicable, simple and convenient in construction as well as qualified, this code is formulated.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design, construction and acceptance for strengthening steel structures of industrial and civil buildings as well as general structures due to improper design, construction and use, material quality nonconforming to the requirements, changes in functions of use, suffering from disaster and damage, as well as durability deficiency and other reasons. As for strengthening steel structures with special requirements and in particular cases, it still shall meet the requirements of corresponding professional technique standards.
1.0.3 Before strengthening steel structures, reliability evaluation shall be carried out according to "Standard for reliability evaluation of industrial factory buildings" and "Standard for reliability evaluation of civil buildings" etc.
1.0.4 The design, construction and acceptance of strengthening steel buildings, except the requirements in this code, still shall meet the requirements in "Code for Design of Steel Structures " and "Code for Construction and Acceptance of Steel Structure Engineering".
