1 Scope
This document, together with GB 10395.1, specifies the safety requirements for the design and manufacture of plant protection machinery used for applying pesticides and spraying liquid fertilizers, as well as the methods for verifying these requirements. This document also specifies the types of information on safety operating procedures (including residual risks) that manufacturers should provide.
When the provisions of this document conflict with those of GB 10395.1, the provisions of this document take precedence for machines designed and manufactured in accordance with this document.
This document, together with GB 10395.1, identifies major hazards, hazardous conditions, and hazardous events that occur when machines are used as intended under the manufacturer's specified conditions (see Annex A), except for hazards caused by the following situations:
-Environmental factors other than noise;
-Moving parts of power - transmitting mechanisms, except for the strength requirements of protective devices and barriers.
This document applies to manual and motorized plant protection machinery (hereinafter referred to as "plant protection machinery" or "machines") used for applying pesticides and spraying liquid fertilizers (hereinafter collectively referred to as "pesticides"), including sprayers, dust sprayers, smoke machines, liquid fertilizer sprayers, etc., but does not apply to manned or unmanned aerial spraying systems.
This document does not apply to plant protection machinery manufactured before the implementation date.

4 Safety Requirements and Protective Measures
4.1 General Requirements
4.1.1 General Requirements for Plant Protection Machinery
4.1.1.1 Plant protection machinery shall comply with the safety requirements and protective measures specified in this document. In addition, for related but non - major hazards not covered by this document, plant protection machinery shall be designed in accordance with the risk reduction strategies specified in GB/T 15706-2012. Major hazards, hazardous conditions, and hazardous events are listed in Annex A.
4.1.1.2 Unless otherwise specified in this document, plant protection machinery shall comply with the requirements of GB 10395.1.
4.1.1.3 Operators shall be able to perform the following operations without using special tools (except for tools provided with the machine): replacing consumable parts (such as nozzles, sealing elements, etc.) as specified in the instruction manual, adding pesticides, and maintaining the machine. These operations shall not contaminate the operator or the environment.
4.1.1.4 Hazardous parts of plant protection machinery, such as high - temperature components, exposed moving parts, folding and lifting mechanisms of booms, etc., which may cause squeezing and shearing, shall be equipped with safety protective devices (such as protective covers or protective nets) that comply with GB 10395.1 or GB/T 23821. When safety protective devices cannot be installed due to structural reasons or when safety distances cannot be guaranteed, safety signs complying with GB 10396 shall be affixed to prominent positions near the hazardous parts, and the instruction manual shall provide corresponding explanations.
For backpack plant protection machinery driven by internal combustion engines, the contactable area of parts with a temperature higher than 58°C that may be accidentally touched during normal operation shall not exceed 10 cm².
4.1.1.5 After adding pesticides to the rated capacity in the liquid tank of the machine, it shall be ensured that no pesticide leakage occurs during maintenance and servicing of the spraying system (except for portable machines for handheld or backpack operations).
4.1.1.6 When plant protection machinery is in the transportation state, it shall remain stable when parked on a hard inclined surface with a slope of 8.5° in any direction, under both unloaded (without pesticides) and fully loaded (with pesticides at the rated capacity) conditions. When the fully loaded plant protection machinery is tilted, pesticides in the liquid tank shall not leak or overflow.
For plant protection machinery equipped with transport wheels for easy manual handling during disassembly, the risk of the machine tipping over or rolling down the slope should be minimized.
4.1.1.7 During normal operation, all parts and connection points of plant protection machinery shall be sealed reliably, and no pesticide or other liquid leakage shall occur.
4.1.1.8 A manual control device for stopping spraying shall be provided within the operator's or driver's reachable area (except for unmanned machines). After stopping spraying, no pesticide leakage shall occur.
For handheld spraying devices (such as handheld spray guns, handheld booms, etc.), their control devices shall comply with the provisions of 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 in GB/T 24679.2-2020.
