1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for motor vehicles-hood latch system.
This standard is applicable to motor vehicles of Categories M and N.

3 Terms and definitions
3.1 hood
any exterior movable body panel forward of the windshield that is used to cover an engine, luggage, storage, or battery compartment
4 Requirements
4.1 Each hood shall be provided with a hood latch system.
4.2 A front opening hood which, in any open position, partially or completely obstructs a driver's forward view through the windshield shall be provided with a second latch position on the hood latch system or with a second hood latch system.
