本标准适用于家用及类似用途的机电式接触器，其主触头用于连接额定电压不超过交流440V、使用类别AC-7a下额定工作电流小于或等于64A、使用类别AC-7b下额定工作电流小于或等于32A、额定限制短路电流小于或等于6kA的电路。适用于本标准的接触器一般不用于分断短路电流，因此使用时应安装适当的短路保护电器作为其一部分。本标准不适用于下述电器：a)符合GB 14048.4的接触器；b)半导体接触器；c)特殊用途的接触器；d)接触器的辅助触头(其有关要求见GB 14048.5)。本标准规定了下述要求：a)接触器的特性；b)接触器应符合下列要求的条件：1)操作和性能，2)介电性能，3)外壳防护等级，4)结构；c)验证满足上述条件所采用的试验及试验方法；d)提交认证的试验程序及试品数量；e)接触器应提供的参数或制造厂样本中应提供的参数。
