GB 18306-2015/XG1-2026 Seismic Ground Motion Parameters Zonation Map of China 1 Scope This standard specifies the technical elements, basic requirements and determination method of seismic ground motion parameters of seismic ground motion parameter zonation map of China. This standard is applicable to the compilation of planning in terms of the seismic fortification of general construction projects and social and economic development, land use, disaster prevention and reduction and environmental protection, etc. 2 Normative References The following documents for the application of this document are essential. For dated reference, only the dated edition applies. For undated reference, the latest edition of the normative document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 2260-2007 Codes for the Administrative Divisions of the Peoples Republic of China 3 Terminologies and Definitions For the purposes of this document, the following terminologies and definitions apply. 3.1 Seismic ground motion The vibration of ground surface and near surface medium caused by earthquake. 3.2 Seismic ground motion parameters The seismic ground motion physical parameters characterizing the seismic fortification requirements, which include seismic peak ground acceleration and characteristic period of the acceleration response spectrum, etc. 3.3 Seismic ground motion parameter zonation The zoning of land into zones of different seismic fortification requirements according to seismic ground motion parameters. 3.4 Seismic peak ground acceleration The index characterizing the intensity level of earthquake action and it corresponds to the horizontal acceleration of the maximum value of standardized acceleration response spectrum of seismic ground motion. 3.5 Characteristic period of the acceleration response spectrum The period value corresponding by the drop point of standardized acceleration response spectrum curve of seismic ground motion. 3.6 Probability of exceedance The probability of certain site to encounter the earthquake greater than or equal to given seismic ground motion parameters. 3.7 Major construction projects The projects having significant values or impacts to the society. 3.8 General construction projects The construction projects expect for major construction projects and construction projects that may have severe secondary disasters. 3.9 Basis ground motion The seismic ground motion which is 10% corresponding to 50-year probability of exceedance. 3.10 Frequent ground motion The seismic ground motion which is 63% corresponding to 50-year probability of exceedance. 3.11 Rare ground motion The seismic ground motion which is 2% corresponding to 50-year probability of exceedance. 3.12 Very rare ground motion The seismic ground motion which is 10-4 corresponding to the annual probability of exceedance. 4 Technical Elements 4.1 Figure A.1 in Appendix A and Figure B.1 in Appendix B specify the zonation value of the peak acceleration of basis ground motion and that of characteristic period of the acceleration response spectrum of basis ground motion in Class II site respectively. 4.2 Tables C.1~C.32 in Appendix C specify the peak acceleration of basis ground motion and characteristic period of the acceleration response spectrum of basis ground motion in Class II site in the place where people's governments at township and town level locate and in cities at or above the county level in all provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities), where the names of administrative districts are specified according to GB/T 2260-2007. 4.3 Appendix D specifies the indexes of site classification. 4.4 Appendix E specifies the adjustment method and coefficient of seismic peak ground acceleration under various site conditions. 4.5 Table 1 Adjustment Table of Characteristic Period of the Acceleration Response Spectrum of Site Basis Ground Motion in 8.2 specifies the adjustment value of characteristic period of the acceleration response spectrum under various site conditions. 4.6 Appendix F specifies the scope of seismic peak ground acceleration of various divisions specified in Figure A.1 and the scope of characteristic period of the acceleration response spectrum of various divisions specified in Figure B.1. 4.7 Appendix G specifies the corresponding relationship of seismic intensity with seismic peak ground acceleration in Class II Site when adopting this standard. 5 Basic Requirements 5.1 The seismic fortification of general construction projects shall meet the seismic fortification requirements specified in this standard. 5.2 In the compilation of planning in terms of the social and economic development, land use, disaster prevention and reduction and environmental protection, etc., the seismic risk shall be taken into consideration according to the seismic fortification requirements specified in this standard. 5.3 Seismic ground motion parameters may be valued in accordance with basis ground motion, frequent ground motion, rare ground motion and very rare ground motion respectively. 6 Determination of Seismic Peak Ground Acceleration in Class II Site 6.1 Peak acceleration of basis ground motion 6.1.1 Peak acceleration of basis ground motion shall be valued according to Figure A.1, where the peak acceleration of basis ground motion in the place where people's governments at township and town level locate and in cities at or above the county level shall be valued according to Tables C.1~C.32. 6.1.2 The peak acceleration of basis ground motion near the zone boundary in Figure A.1 shall be determined according to high principle or by special study. 6.2 Peak acceleration of frequent ground motion, rare ground motion and very rare ground motion 6.2.1 The peak acceleration of frequent ground motion should be determined according to at least 1/3 of that of basis ground motion. 6.2.2 The peak acceleration of rare ground motion should be determined according to 1.6~2.3 times of that of basis ground motion. 6.2.3 The peak acceleration of very rare ground motion should be determined according to 2.7~3.2 times of that of basis ground
