National food safety standard Food additive - Propylene glycol fatty acid ester
1 Scope
This standard is applicable to propylene glycol fatty acid ester, a food additive produced by the reaction of fatty acid or oil with 1, 2-propanediol, processed or unprocessed by molecular distillation.
2 Structural formula
Of the structure formula: R1 represents one fatty acid group and hydrogen (in the case of monoester) and R2 represents two fatty acid groups (in the case of diesters).
3 Technical requirements
3.1 Sensory requirements
Sensory requirements shall meet those specified in Table 1.

Item Criteria Test method
Color and luster Transparent or white to yellowish white Take a proper amount of specimen and put it into a clean and dry white porcelain dish, and observe its color and luster as well as the state in natural light.
Texture Liquid or solid in beads, chips or other shapes
3.2 Physical and chemical indexes
Physical and chemical indexes shall meet those specified in Table 2.
