1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, technical requirements, and marking of protective toecaps, and describes test methods.
This document applies to protective toecaps used in foot protection equipment.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 12903 and GB 21148, and the following apply to this document.
3.1 Protective toecap
A component that provides impact and compression protection for the toe area.
3.2 Internal protective toecap
A protective toecap installed on the inner side of the upper in the toe area.
3.3 External protective toecap
A protective toecap installed on the outer side of the upper in the toe area.

Non-metal protective toecaps

5 Technical Requirements
5.1 General Requirements

Where no tolerance is specified in this document (text or illustrations), a maximum tolerance of ±10% shall apply.
5.1.2
The performance requirements and number of test samples for protective toecaps are listed in Table 1.
Note: This document applies to shoe components rather than complete footwear. When selecting protective toecaps based on test reports referenced in this document, footwear manufacturers should consider the compatibility with shoe sizes and overall performance requirements. Appendix A provides guidance on the relationship between shoe sizes and protective toecap sizes.

5.2 Appearance Quality
Protective toecaps shall be smooth, free of burrs, and without material or manufacturing defects.
Non-metal protective toecaps shall show no interlayer cracking or delamination.
5.3 Dimensions
5.3.1 Internal Length
After testing according to method 6.2.1, the minimum internal length of protective toecaps shall comply with Table 2 requirements.
