This standard specifies the types, selection criteria, usage guidelines, and maintenance procedures for foot protective equipment, applicable to protective gear designed to prevent physical and chemical hazards.

4 Types of Foot Protective Equipment
4.1 Foot Protective Footwear
4.1.1 Classification
The classification of foot protective footwear is shown in Table 1.

4.1.2 Styles
The styles of foot protective footwear are shown in Figure 1.

4.2 Other Foot Protective Equipment
Other foot protective equipment includes protective gaiters and shoe covers, classified based on protective performance, product form, or workplace.
5 Selection of Foot Protective Equipment
5.1 General Requirements
5.1.1 Foot protective equipment shall comply with GB 20098 and relevant product standards.
5.1.2 The selection shall be based on whether workplace hazards are single or combined. For workplaces with multiple hazards, the equipment shall provide protection against all relevant hazards.
Note: Appendix A provides examples of foot protective equipment selection.
5.2 Selection Based on Protective Performance
5.2.1 For workplaces with toe impact risks, toe-protective footwear shall be selected. If magnetic or electric shock hazards exist, non-metal toe caps shall be used.
5.2.2 For workplaces with puncture risks, puncture-resistant footwear shall be selected. If magnetic or electric shock hazards exist, non-metal puncture-resistant inserts shall be used.
5.2.3 For workplaces with charge accumulation risks, conductive footwear shall be selected.
5.2.4 For workplaces with electrostatic spark ignition risks, anti-static footwear shall be selected.
5.2.5 For workplaces with electric shock risks, electrically insulated footwear shall be selected.
Note: Electrically insulated footwear is considered auxiliary safety equipment when working with electrical devices.
5.2.6 For workplaces with frostbite risks, cold-resistant footwear shall be selected.
5.2.7 For workplaces with burn risks, heat-insulated footwear shall be selected.
5.2.8 For workplaces with chemical exposure risks, chemical-resistant footwear shall be selected.
