GB 44496-2024 General technical requirements for software update of vehicles
1 Scope
This document specifies the management system requirements for software update of vehicles, the vehicle requirements, the same type judgment and the instructions for use of motor vehicles, and also describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to Classes M, N and O vehicles with software update functions.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 44495-2024 and the following apply.
3.1
software
part of an electronic control system that consists of digital data and commands
3.2
software update
process of updating software to a new version through an update package, including changing the configuration parameters of the software
Note 1: "Software update" is also referred to as "software upgrade".
Note 2: "Software update" includes over-the-air update and offline update.
3.3
over-the-air update; OTA update
software update that transmits the update package to the vehicle by wireless means rather than using a cable or other local connection modes
Note 1: "Over-the-air update" is also referred to as "remote update".
Note 2: "Local connection modes" generally refer to the physical connection modes through the on-board diagnostic (OBD) interface, universal serial bus (USB) interface, etc.
