This document is applicable to the inspection, testing and evaluation of mechanical properties of tables.
This document is not intended for infant care desks.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
duty cycle
time for adjusting the drive system of the height-adjustable table without compromising the service life
[Source: GB/T 38607- 2020, 3.2, modified]
3.2
end extension
extended tabletops that exceed the length of the original tabletop by 200 mm or higher and are not directly supported by the ground
3.3
levelling device
device with adjustable range less than 40 mm in the vertical direction and capable of keeping the tabletop horizontal
3.4
type I tables
tables with a tabletop area greater than 0.5 m2 and a height over 600 mm
3.5
type II tables
tables other than type I tables
4 General test conditions
4.1 Pretreatment and test environment
The test piece shall be a completely assembled product.
Detachable furniture shall be completely assembled according to the drawing requirements; if there are several combinations, it shall be assembled in the most unfavorable way for strength test and durability test.
If the manufacturer does not provide the installation or assembly instructions of furniture, the assembly method shall be recorded in the test report.
All hardware connectors shall be securely installed before testing. It shall not be tightened again during the test, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
During the test, the tabletop shall be adjusted to level, and the leveling device shall be adjusted to the middle position without exceeding 13 mm (from the fully closed position).
Unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, the test pieces shall be placed in an indoor environment without load for at least 24 hours before testing.
The test shall be conducted in an indoor environment. If the temperature during the test exceeds the range of 15 °C ~ 27 °C, the maximum and minimum temperatures shall be recorded in the test report. For the test of desktop deflection (see 6.7), except those made of metal, glass and stone, other tables shall be tested in an environment with relative humidity of 40% ~ 70%. If the humidity exceeds the range of 40% ~ 70% during the test, the maximum and minimum humidity shall be recorded in the test report.
Before the test, the whole test piece shall be visually inspected completely, and any existing defects shall be recorded to distinguish the defects caused by the test.
4.2 Loading force
Forces in static loads shall be applied slowly enough to avoid dynamic loading.
Unless otherwise specified, each force shall be maintained for 10 s ~ 15 s.
The force in the durability test shall be maintained at a fixed frequency during application to avoid excessive heat. Unless otherwise specified, each force shall be maintained for (2 ± 1) s.
Force may be substituted by weights. The substitution relationship is 10N = 1 kg.
4.3 Tolerances
Unless otherwise specified, the following tolerances apply to this document:
—Force: ±5% of the nominal force;
—Mass: ±1% of nominal mass;
—Size: If it is less than 200mm, the deviation shall be ±1mm of the nominal size, and the deviation of other sizes shall be ±0.5%;
—The deviation between the loading position of the loading pad and the impactor shall be ± 5mm.
Note: Due to the measurement uncertainty, the test results are considered unaffected provided that the above tolerances can be reached.
4.4 Sequence of testing
All strength tests shall be carried out on the same test piece in the order of the chapters in this document, and durability tests may be carried out on different test pieces.
All component-specific tests shall be carried out on the same test piece.
4.5 Loading of storage components
Unless otherwise specified, in the strength and durability test, all storage components not under test, such as push-pull members, shall be uniformly loaded according to Table 1. Moving parts not under test shall remain closed during the test.
The volume of push-pull member is calculated as the internal bottom area × clear height and expressed by cubic decimeters (dm3).
