本规范适用于电气和电子设备用绝缘或非绝缘型的旁热式负温系数热敏电阻器。注：直热式负温系数热敏电阻器主要用于温度测量、调整和补偿电路用以限制电流和获得时间延迟；而旁热式负温系数热敏电阻器是在中间放大级调整电路中(在输出输入之间没有电的连接的负反馈电路)作电流有效值的测量或作为热电耦合器件。这类旁热式负温系数热敏电阻器的一个重要的特性是：电流通加热件对热敏电阻体加热因而可以减弱环境温度对热敏电阻器的影响。
