本标准规定了锅炉用水、冷却水、原水及工业废水中总铁、总可溶性铁盒可溶性铁（Ⅱ）的测定方法，适用于测定铁的质量浓度范围为0.01mg/L~5mg/L 铁浓度高于5mg/L时可将样品适当稀释后再进行测定。 本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ１４４２７—１９９３《锅炉用水和冷却水分析方法　铁的测定》。
本标准与ＧＢ／Ｔ１４４２７—１９９３相比主要变化如下：
———删除了“４，７二苯基１，１０菲啉光度法”；
———增加了可溶性铁（Ⅱ）的内容。
