1 Scope
This part of GB/T 15566 specifies the composition, overall setting principles and requirements of public information guidance systems, as well as the specific setting requirements of all guidance elements.
This part is applicable to the settings of public information guidance systems in civil airports, railway passenger stations, public transport stations, shopping marketplaces, medical sites, sports places, hotels, tourist attractions, vehicle parking lots and street blocks and other public places.
This part neither applicable to the setting of emergency guidance systems and road traffic guidance systems, nor to the setting of dynamic information system mainly compose of electronic display screens.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 15565 apply.
4 Composition of Public Information Guidance Systems
4.1 General
Public information guidance systems can be divided into several sub-guidance systems, and each sub-guidance system can be further divided into several different types of guidance elements.
4.2 Sub-guidance systems
The division of sub-guidance systems helps to refine the setting of public information guidance systems. The following aspects should be considered in the division of sub-guidance systems:
a) Personnel flow: sub-guidance systems can be divided according to different personnel flow;
b) Activity area: sub-guidance systems can be divided according to different activity areas of personnel;
Note 1: It is applicable to public facilities with clear and specific spatial partitions, for example, station squares, stations and platforms of railway passenger stations can be divided into different sub-guidance systems.
c) Guidance referent: sub-guidance systems can be divided by using corresponding guidance elements according to different guidance referents.

4.3 Guidance elements
4.3.1 Public information guidance systems can be composed of one or more of the following guidance elements, according to the complexity and setting scale of the public information guidance systems:
a) location sign;
b) direction sign;
c) information index sign;
d) location plan;
e) street guidance map;
f) portable printing matter.
4.3.2 Guidance elements are commonly set in the following modes:
a) Attachment: the setting mode in which the sign back is directly fixed on the object;
b) Hanging: hanging setting mode connected with the top or wall of the building;
c) Placement: the setting mode of movable placement;
d) Column: the setting mode in which guidance elements are fixed on the top of one or more supporting rods;
e) Desktop: the setting mode in which guidance elements are attached to the inclined table at a certain height;
f) Frame: the setting mode in which guidance elements are fixed in the frame or between the supporting rods;
g) Ground: the setting mode in which the sign is fixed on the ground or floor in a plane way by inlaying, spraying and other methods.
5 General Principles and Requirements
5.1 Normalization
5.1.1 The planning and design of public information guidance systems should consider the principles and methods specified in GB/T 38654.
5.1.2 Guidance elements set in the public information guidance systems shall meet the relevant design requirements of GB/T 20501 (all parts).
5.1.3 The accessibility setting of the public information guidance systems shall meet the relevant requirements of GB/T 31015.
5.1.4 The setting of the public information guidance systems should fully consider the relevant data of human dimensions.
