本部分为ＧＢ／Ｔ１５９７２的第３２部分，本部分代替ＧＢ／Ｔ１５９７２．３—１９９８《光纤总规范　第３部分：机械性能试验方法》中第１１章。本标准规定了沿光纤纵轴向定量地机械剥去保护涂覆层所需的力的试验方法，确立了测量的统一试验程序和技术要求。本部分适用于Ａ１类、Ａ２类、Ａ３类和Ｂ类具有标称外直径为２５０μｍ～９００μｍ 范围内的聚合物作外被覆层的光纤的测量。本部分不适用于实际直径２３０μｍ～９３０μｍ 范围之外的聚合物作外被覆层的光纤。 本部分与ＧＢ／Ｔ１５９７２．３—１９９８第１１章相比主要变化如下：
———将标称涂覆直径为２５０μｍ 光纤的剥离长度可取值２０ｍｍ３０ｍｍ 或５０ｍｍ 改为可取的值为３０ｍｍ 或５０ｍｍ（１９９８年版的１１．３．２，本版的５．２）；
———试验标准大气条件改为：温度２３℃±５℃；相对湿度４５％±２５％（１９９８年版的１１．４．２，本版的３．３）。
