GB/T 1632《塑料 使用毛细管黏度计测定聚合物稀溶液黏度》由五个部分组成，本部分为GB/T 1632的第1部分，等同采用ISO 1628-1：1998：《塑料——使用毛细管黏度计测定聚合物稀溶液黏度——第1部分：通则》（1998年英文版）。
本部分代替GB/T 1632-1993《聚合物稀溶液粘数和特性粘数测定》。
GB/T 1632的本部分规定了有机聚合物稀溶液的比黏度、特性黏度和K-值测定的通用条件。
本部分规定了黏度测定的标准参数，可作为各种不同聚合物溶液黏度测定标准的基础，也适用于无专用标准的聚合物溶液的测定和报告。
本部分与GB/T 1632-1993相比主要变化如下：
