本标准修改采用ISO 60：1977（2005年9月20日确认）《塑料——能从规定漏斗流出的材料表观密度的测定》（英文版）。
本标准根据ISO 60：1977重新起草。
本标准代替GB/T 1636-1979《模塑料表观密度试验方法》。
本标准规定了能从规定漏斗流出的松散材料（粉料或粒料）表观密度的测定方法。
本标准应用于比较粗的材料时，由于直尺刮平量筒上部多余的试样时会引入误差，所以测试结果可能会产生误差。
本标准同GB/T 1636-1979的主要差异为：
——本标准采用ISO 60：1977标准名称；
——删除了1979年版国家标准中的乙法，适用范围做了调整；
——增加了“规范性引用文件”一章；
——每批料进行三次测定修改为进行两次测定；
——增加了“精密度”。
