1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, ordering contents, manufacturing processes, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates for forged steel bars made of quality carbon structure steels and alloy structure steels for forgings.
This document is applicable to forged round steel with a nominal diameter not exceeding 1500 mm, forged square steel with a nominal side length not exceeding 1300 mm, and forged flat steel with a nominal thickness not exceeding 1000 mm and a nominal width not exceeding 1700 mm.
This document is also applicable to general forgings in equipment such as metallurgy, mining, shipbuilding, and engineering machinery, whose mechanical properties are determined by sampling after integral heat treatment.

4 Classification
4.1 Steel bars are classified into 3 categories by metallurgical quality:
a) quality steel;
b) high-quality steel (marked with suffix "A" after the grade);
c) Super high-quality steel (marked with suffix "E" after the grade).
4.2 Steel bars are classified into 3 categories by surface delivery condition:
a) hot forged;
b) ground;
c) machined.
4.3 Steel bars are classified into 5 categories by heat treatment condition:
a) annealed;
b) high-temperature tempered;
c) normalized;
d) normalized + tempered;
e) quenched + tempered (including quenched and high-temperature tempered).
4.4 Steel bars are classified into 2 categories by processing method:
a) steel for pressure working;
b) steel for cutting.
5 Ordering contents
Contracts or orders made based on this document should cover the following information:
a) No. of this document;
b) product name;
c) grade;
d) smelting method;
e) delivery weight (or quantity);
f) dimension, shape and permissible deviation;
f) use and processing methods (deemed as steel for cutting unless otherwise indicated);

6 Manufacturing processes
6.1 Smelting method
Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the steel is normally smelted by electric furnace or converter, followed by secondary refining.

1 Scope
