1 Scope
This standard is applicable to a kind of permanent bar-code label through which the vehicle identification number can be identified automatically.
This standard specifies the basic content requirements of vehicle identification number (VIN) bar-code label, technical requirements of bar-code and performance test methods of label.

3.1 Vehicle identification number (VIN)
a group of character code composed of letters and single digit that is designated by the manufacturer for the purpose of identifying a vehicle according to the requirements of GB/T 16736
3.2 Label
a kind of carrier including bar-code and human readable code character information
3.3 Bar-code reader
generally, it is a kind of bar-code reading equipment composed of non-contact scanner, decoder and data converter
