1 Scope This Part of GB/T 19981 specifies a method for assessing the performance of fabrics and garments after drycleaning and finishing according to procedures specified in GB/T 19981. This Part is applicable to the identification of fabric and garment properties which may change on drycleaning and finishing. The current standards for assessing such changes are provided in this Part; other properties which are also important, but for which there are no standards which provide methods of assessment, are indicated in Appendix A, together with advice on how to proceed on their assessment. It is recommended that comments on these should be included in the test report (see Chapter 8 and Appendix B). For the assessment of dimensional change, this method refers to primary drycleaning and finishing; if the progressive variation is required, this method will be repeated as specified, usually not more than 5 times. 2 Normative References The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this Part of GB/19981 constitute provisions of this Part. For dated reference, subsequent amendments (excluding amending errors) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, all parties coming to an agreement according to this standard are encouraged to study whether the latest editions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies. GB 250 Gray Scale for Assessing Change in Color (GB 250-1995, idt ISO 105-A02: 1993) GB 251 Gray Scale for Assessing Staining(GB 251-1995, idt ISO 105-A03: 1993) GB/T 3819-1997 Textile Fabrics - Determination of the Recovery from Creasing of a Folded Specimen by Measuring the Angle of Recovery GB/T 4745 Textile Fabrics - Determination of Resistance to Surface Wetting - Spray Test(GB/T 4745-1997, eqv ISO 4920: 1981) GB/T 5711 Textiles - Tests for Color Fastness - Color Fastness to Dry Cleaning(GB/T 5711-1997, eqv ISO 105-D01: 1993) GB/T 5717 Textiles - Tests for Color Fastness - Color Fastness to Spotting-water(GB/T 5717-1997, eqv ISO 105-E07: 1989) GB 6529 Textiles - Standard Atmospheres for Conditioning and Testing GB/T 8628 Textiles - Preparation, Marking and Measuring of Fabric Specimens and Garments in Tests for Determination of Dimensional Change (GB/T 8628 2001, eqv ISO 3759: 1994) GB/T 11 404 Textiles - Tests for Color Fastness - Specification for Standard Adjacent Fabric: Multifibre GB/T 13769 Textiles-Method for Assessing the Appearance of Durable Press Fabrics after Domestic Washing and Drying(GB/T 13769-1992, eqv ISO 7768: 1985) GB/T 13770 Textiles-Method for Assessing the Appearance of Creases in Durable Press Products after Domestic Washing and Drying(GB/T 13770-1992, eqv ISO 7769: 1985) GB/T 13771 Textiles-Method for Assessing the Appearance of Seams in Durable Press Products after Domestic Washing and Drying(GB/T 13771 1992, eqv ISO 7770: 1985) GB/T 19981.2-2005 Textiles - Professional Care, Drycleaning and Wetcleaning of Fabrics and Garments - Part 2: Procedure for Testing Performance When Drycleaning and Finishing Using Tetrachloroethene (ISO 3175.2: 1998, MOD) ISO 9867: 1991 Textiles - Evaluation of the Wrinkle Recovery of Fabrics - Appearance Method. ISO 12947: 2001 Textiles - Determination of Resistance to Abrasion of Fabrics by the Martindale Method 3 Terms and Definition For the purposes of this Part of GB/T 19981, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 Composite test specimen Test specimen consisting of all component parts used in the finished item, and combined in a representative assembly 3.2 Dry-cleanability Extent to which an article may be cleaned by means of immersion with agitation in organic solvents commonly used for the purpose Note 1: This process consists of cleaning, centrifugal extraction, drying and finishing to restore shape and appearance. 4 Principle At least two identical test specimens are obtained. The first test specimen is used as a control to indicate the original condition, and does not undergo any drycleaning and finishing treatment. The second test specimen is subjected to a drycleaning process using commercial equipment involving a two-bath cleaning, rinsing, centrifugal extraction, tumble drying and appropriate finishing. An assessment of dimensional, color and other changes is carried out after cleaning and finishing by comparing the second test specimen with the first test specimen. The assessment determines whether or not the item is regarded as dry-cleanable in the process selected. If a retest in a more sensitive process is necessary, a third test specimen is required.
